About Us
Aldersgate UMC was founded in 1964 to evangelize people in the northern western part of Rockford. Since then, Aldersgate UMC has been active reaching out to all generations and focusing on various ministries for younger generations. Aldersgate UMC carries on the central mission theme of the United Methodist Church, Open Hearts, Open Minds and Open Doors to invite everyone.
Our sanctuary features a large raised altar area along one wall for easy viewing from any pew in the church. We have beautiful stained glass windows in the four corners and back wall of the sanctuary. A large wooden cross and the eternal light of Christ hang over the altar area from the high ceiling. Two large video projection screens flank the altar providing easy reading/singing even from the back row! Improvements and updates to our audio system over the years have led to a worship experience that is easy to hear even for those with hearing difficulties.
We also feature a large robust organ that fills the sanctuary with sound. A smaller electronic piano is also utilized during the worship hour. Our worship experience begins at 9:00am Sunday mornings. Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. Our communion table is open to all.
We encourage you to experience a worship hour with us. You will learn about some of the activities and missions of Aldersgate. You will see a family that shares and cares for its members and others. There will be special music offerings from vocalists and bell ringers, a puppet ministry, children’s messages and the enlightening and enriching words of our Pastor Sarah Hong.

Worship At AUMC
